Orange Bowl Kicks Off School Year With Free Family Fun
MIAMI LAKES, Fla., (August 6, 2024) – The 12th annual Sunshine Health Orange Bowl Family Fun & Fit Day presented by PNC Bank at David Deal Playday will be held Saturday, Aug. 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Orange Bowl Field at Carter Park in Fort Lauderdale, located at 1450 W. Sunrise Blvd.
Families can prepare for the new school year by receiving free backpacks filled with school supplies, kids’ haircuts and a food distribution in partnership with Farmshare, all while supplies last. Attendees can also enjoy a variety of food trucks, as well as a live DJ, bounce houses, games, caricaturists, water activities and more.
“We are thrilled to bring back the Sunshine Health Orange Bowl Family Fun & Fit Day presented by PNC Bank,” said Orange Bowl Committee President & Chair Bradley D. Houser. “This event is more than just fun and games; it’s an investment in our community’s future. By providing access to essential resources and promoting healthy lifestyles, we’re empowering children to reach their full potential.”
The Sunshine Health Orange Bowl Family Fun & Fit Day presented by PNC Bank is one of the many ways Orange Bowl gives back to the South Florida community through its Orange Bowl Cares initiative. The event is made possible by meaningful contributions from title sponsor Sunshine Health, presenting sponsor PNC Bank, and associate sponsors AutoNation, CBS4, Cinch Home Services, and Hard Rock Stadium.
“Access to school supplies can be a barrier to learning for children and I love seeing our community come together to fill that need,” said Nathan Landsbaum, Sunshine Health CEO. “The Sunshine Health Orange Bowl Family Fun & Fit Day lessens the financial burden for local families and provides the essential supplies and resources that students need for a happy, healthy start to the school year.”
“PNC is committed to improving the lives of families and children in the communities where we live and work,” said Cressman Bronson, PNC regional president for Southeast Florida. “We’re proud to continue our support of an event that provides parents and caregivers with essential back-to-school resources, while also getting kids excited about the year ahead.”
This year’s event will be part of the City of Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation Department’s 70th annual David Deal Playday. Approximately 25 local vendors will be in attendance providing a variety of products, services and health and fitness essentials for families.
