Harold Solomon Inducted into Orange Bowl Tennis Hall of Fame at Miami Open

MIAMI LAKES, Fla. (www.orangebowl.org) – The Orange Bowl Committee introduced Harold Solomon as the 2024 Orange Bowl Tennis Hall of Fame inductee during a ceremony at the March 27 evening session of the Miami Open at Hard Rock Stadium.

Solomon won the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships 18-and-under boys title in 1969 and 1970, propelling him to an incredibly successful professional career.

Solomon, a five-time member of U.S. Davis Cup teams, was ranked as one of the world’s top ten players in the late-70s, became a French Open finalist in 1976 and rose to the No. 5 player in the world in 1980. He also served as President of the Association of Tennis Professionals from 1979-1981.

Over the last 77 years, the Orange Bowl International Tennis Championships has become one of the most prestigious junior tennis tournaments in the world. The tournament has featured a “who’s who” of tennis greats through the years, including past champions Bjorn Borg, Jim Courier, Elena Dementieva, Chris Evert, Roger Federer, Mary Joe Fernandez, Ivan Lendl, John McEnroe, Andy Roddick and Gabriela Sabatini. Other participants include Arthur Ashe, Boris Becker, Jennifer Capriati, Jimmy Connors and Yannick Noah. Recent champions of the tournament include some of tennis’ rising stars including Coco Gauff, Sofia Kenin, Bianca Andreescu and Miimir Kecmanović.
